Medical Savings & Loan - Grants

The goal of the Medical Savings & Loan is to help those who can self-fund their health care do so.

Unfortunately, there are some people whose healthcare expenses exceed their ability to pay. For people in bad cicumstances, the Medical Savings And Loan provides a generous system of grants.

By separating those who can self fund care from those who can't, the MS& allows grant agencies to optimize the benefit from their grants.

Grants v. Re-insurance

The grant agencies are likely to have a great deal of money which they are expected to distribute.

In the early versions of the Medical Savings and Loan. I called the grant program "re-insurance" and I put forth a complex formula for distributing the funds. I changed the name of the supplement program from "re-insurance" to "grant" as I feel the change gives greater flexibility to the grant agencies. Changing the name also breaks the expectation that people have a right to the supplements.

The grant program exists to supplement peooples efforts to self-fund their care. As such, they exist in what might be described as a negative space.
